PowerSearch Complete File Recovery

The PowerSearch technology recovers more than a hundred types of files located on damaged, formatted or repartitioned disks. Developed to preserve and recover your most precious data, PowerSearch supports files you value most such as compressed archives, Office documents, spreadsheets, presentations, family photos and multimedia files. PowerSearch is designed to take advantage of every chance to recover your data, no matter how slim the chance might be. The technology is constantly evolving, adding support for more file formats all the time. Today, PowerSearch can recover more than 170 types of files.

PowerSearch Benefits

PowerSearch is designed to detect the exact physical location of lost and deleted files in cases when the file system can no longer help. Working in extreme conditions, PowerSearch helps recover files in cases of severe damage to disks and their system structures.

Normally, data recovery tools rely on the file system to contain information on files that were deleted or lost after a disk failure. If, however, the disk gets reformatted, repartitioned, or simply damaged beyond reasonable repair, the remaining of the file system cannot help locate any files.

PowerSearch employs the complete scan and analysis of the hard disk in order to locate certain types of documents (over 170 in its current implementation). Technically, PowerSearch reads the entire surface of the disk sector by sector, analyzing data in order to detect signatures characteristic to known types of files. For example, JPEG files contain the ‘JFIF’ signature in their headers, and are therefore easy to detect. After detecting the beginning of a file, PowerSearch makes its best to obtain information about the file’s name and the exact length of the file in order to recover the file in as close a condition to the original as possible.

Supported File Formats

WizardRecovery constantly updates the PowerSearch technology. Currently, the technology recognizes over 170 types of files.

Office Documents

PowerSearch locates and recovers documents such as those saved by Microsoft Office 95-2007, StarOffice and OpenOffice. This also includes RTF and HTML files, Adobe PageMaker and PDF files. If Microsoft Office documents are damaged of partially overwritten, PowerSearch attempts to repair them on-the-fly. You don’t need Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, or StarOffice to be installed in order to recover office documents with PowerSearch.
